I've mentioned only a part of the song. Here goes the meaning of the whole song in English.

"Ages after ages,
Millennium after millennium,
The Yugadi keeps on coming!
Bringing with it new joy
of the new year and of a new life.
I can hear the melody of the love-struck beetle,
on the golden lush fields.
As the Yugadi fills my 'neem'-filled life
with the aroma of a tender flower,
renewing the magic of the Master!

As the green leaves of Mango,
in all their magnificence,
wait for the arrow of Kama,
I can see the fleet of parrots,
camouflaged amidst the leaves, rejoicing
and singing the sweet music of a great harvest."



According to the Hindu Mythology, it is believed that Lord Brahma created the Universe on this day and hence the name YUGADI, which means 'Beginning of an era'. Also, the emperor Shalivahana(A.D. 79), who ruled India was crowned on this day. This day is also called as 'Saka era' or 'Shalivahana Saka'.
For Hindus, there are two types of calender:Chandramana(lunar) calender and Souramana(solar) calender. Those who follow the Chandramana (lunar) calender, the festival of Ugadi heralds the beginning of a New Year, celebrated on the first day of the month of Chaitra. The festival marks the beginning of a new Hindu lunar calender with the change in moon's orbit.




The speciality of Ugadi is that on this day, people partake a mixture of Neem flowers and jaggery. They offer the mixture, which symbolises the fact that life is a combination of happy and sorrowful events and both should be treated equally, to relatives, friends and neighbours.
The Panchanga Sravana or listening to the yearly calender either at temples or homes is a significant event of the day.


The festival is celebrated with religious fervour and grandeur in both cities as well as rural areas. Huge colourful rangolis in the front yards welcome the visitors while mango and neem leaves adorn the entrances.
Ugadi is also celebrated as Vasantha Navarathri(spring season) and Rama Navarathri. Goddess Durga and Lord Rama are worshipped on the occasion.

When it comes to the festival menu, Holige forms the main dish and is also offered as Naivendhem to the Gods.
In Maharashtra, it is celebrated as Gudi Padava. People decorate a bamboo staff with a silk cloth and keep a small silver or copper vessel on the top and tie a flag. They worship and hoist the flag on the terrace. They flag is removed in the evening and sweets are distributed to the family members.
There are sixty Samvastara(year), according to Hindu calender.
This hurt me the most(as given in Panchanga).
This year, it is Vyaya nama Samvastara(Vyaya means heavy expenditure and huge loss) as given in the Hindu Panchanga. The year 1929 was a Vyaya year.

Feb 6th was the last day of last vacations of engineering. This time we had vacations only for 19 days. It was the time to enjoy. First and foremost, my school friend Varsha and I decided to visit Flowershow at Lalbagh. It was AWESOME. Took some snaps, bought some seeds. If you had not visited, then you've missed a lot.

Jan 30, Five of us, Kavitha, Shilpa, Nandini, Bhavya and me decided to go for a movie "Rang de Basanti". I enjoyed the movie. According to me, it was the most meaningful movie which I had watched after Lagaan and Swades; really made me think after I moved out of the theater. The movie had a tragic ending.:-( But I disagree with IBN's Sagarika Ghose opinion with some points on the movie which she has expressed in her blog.

On Feb 1st, left to Mantralayam, where I stayed for few days having unlimited fun with cousins. Finally, back to Bangalore on Feb 5th. Then, began the same old routine... go to college<->curriculum<->fun with friends<->back to home...

Meet the "Artist" of Google Logos : Dennis Hwang




More than 150 million Web surfers around the globe celebrated Korean Independence Day Aug. 15, 2001. Well, at least for a few moments while they were visiting the popular Internet search engine Google. That day, the Korean national flag and several roses of Sharon, the Korean national flower, adorned the familiar "Google" logo on the homepage of the Web site.
Just another day's work for Dennis Hwang (Hwang Jung-moak), a 23-year-old Korean computer artist in the United States , who has been drawing the face of Google for almost two years, creating a buzz of sorts with his simple yet witty designs.

It was 9:30 in the morning. I opened my eyes slowly staring at the clock, heard my dad say "Ega belagayitha?" (meaning "Its morning for you, now"). Well, its the usual time anyone may wakeup in the vacations...
Our 7th semester exams got over on 16th Jan-A sigh of relief!!! This time all subject papers were easy but I didn't do well as usual :-(

Inspite of exams, I never missed listening to Radiocity. It was RJs Sunaina and Darius Birthday on 4th & 5th of this month. Its so nice to listen to Sunaina after a long time.Darius spoke of the gift given by Aarthi. Belated wishes to you two!!!

Jan 6th was my school teacher Smt.Lalithamba birthday. I could not wish her sice my exams were going on... "Belated wishes to you, ma'am".

Then came on 18th Jan, the most awaited birthday of special childhood friend Prathima oops Praths!!! Our exams concluded on 16th and her exams commenced on 16h. Both were happy to see each other after a long, long time. Truly missed her. She was preparing hard for her exams. We chatted for around half an hour, then it was time for me to move. We had much to speak, so much to share.

Our vacations are till Feb 6th. Wish to enjoy with my friends a lot since this is the last semester we'll be together :-( Lots of plans ahead...
