I am a foodie and I don't regret confessing so. While I love to eat all varieties of food in my vegetarian diet, I worry I shouldn't gain fat and cholesterol which cause obesity and health hazard. I have abstained from eating rich oily food and potatoes. It's a taboo that the potatoes cause weight gain, so on and so forth.

Most fast food restaurants including McDonald and KFC are popular among the kids and teens for the french fries and potato wedges. It worries me what kinda oil they use while frying these high calorific food and have stayed away from fast food restaurants for a long time now.

It is hard to resist the temptations and you can't ignore the fried food 365 days. McCain India provides a wide range of lip smacking ready to cook and eat products. The products are cholesterol and trans-fat free and pre-cooked in vegetable oil. They offer frozen packed food such as French Fries, Smiles, Potato Nuggets, Super Wedges, Veggies Burger Patties, Aloo tikki, Cheese and Jalapeño, Potato Cheese Shotz.

It is interesting to learn, that, potato contain 45%  of daily value for Vitamin C. It's also used a breakfast for Day 2 of the popular GM Diet.

I would love to prepare the Potato Wedges while at home and it is the easiest snack that I could without following any instructions.

1. Fry the potatoes in a pan containing oil
2. Add a pinch of salt
3. Serve with Cheese Dip.

I would also enjoy preparing the Burger using the Veggie Burger Patty.

Ingredients
1. Sliced bun
2. Chopped lettuce leaf
3. Sliced tomatoes ( one tomato)
4. Sliced onions ( one onion)
5. McCain veggie patty
6. Curd Sour sauce if you're vegetarian

How to prepare:
1. Fry the veggie patty on a non stick pan
2. Add the stuffings in between the sliced bun : onions, white sauce, tomatoes and the patty.

Your burger is ready.

I enjoy the evening snacks and see how easy it is to prepare.

With McCain's lip smaking products, anyone would enjoy a sumptuous food at home.

Have a look at http://www.mccainindia.com/  to choose what fits you best and don't worry about extra cholesterol.

"Our times were much better when we grew up", claims my mother while I stare at my smart phone, without a blink, at the dining table than looking at the dishes on the plate, without appreciating the effort she has taken to prepare the food for me.

While I compare the my childhood days to the present day, there has been such a drastic advancement in the technology. No one could imagine, a smart phone could be smarter than you are and gain the control of your life. We have become slaves of the technology and truly admit the fact that life was simpler and "happier"during childhood days. What we miss is the "Real Togetherness" and the "Human Bonding" is seen in the form of emails, whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter updates.

A few years ago, I met a lady at Singapore MRT station who was kind and helped me reach the destination safe. After reaching my hometown, I sent her a postcard, thanking her. She has still preserved that card with so much care, that, I had forgotten about the card I sent. She wouldn't have been happier as much as receiving a postcard than receiving an email. That was the instance when I understood, how small gestures could make big difference in the mean world.

To me happiness lies in bringing people together.

  • Have dinner with family members and appreciate the food your mother or spouse has prepared for you. And make a note to turn off the TV during dinner.
  • Sipping coffee together and gossiping about movie stars.
  • Watching a movie at a Cinema Hall with friends.
  • Going for trek and hike together.
  • Invite your Neighbours home to catch a glimpse of dolls that your arranged during Dasara festival.
  • Send handmade greeting cards during the new year and festivals.
  • Arrange a potluck party at home and invite relatives and mandate that every family should get a dish of their choice.
  • Hold a book reading session, flip through the pages and bookmark the last read page using peacock feather.
  • Arrange for Garba on your terrace and try the new steps.
  • Attend a musical concert together.
  • Smile, everyday, when you see your acquaintance rather than looking at your phone.
  • Arrange a get together with your school and surprise your teacher that you still remember her, narrating all the incidents of punishments and how much you disliked standing outside am the class.
  • Go on a picnic, pack your favorite meal and share it with your group.
  • Go on weak or jog with your Neighbour everyday.
  • Watch an old golden movie like Sholay on your big screen, lights off, dolby sound, pop corn and Coke.
  • Go on a long drive together.
  • Lend your shoulders to a friend in distress, jaadu ki jappi is a great stress buster.

Last but the not the least, take time off from commenting, liking and stalking on Facebook. Before it is too late, get on your toes and start meeting old buddies and people who made a lasting impact on your life.

A thoughtful video from Kissanpur worth watching on how human touch has priceless value that technology can never buy.

Meryl had worked hard day and night and saved every penny for her big day. As the D day of her life approached, she was anxious and worried to find the best dress she always dreamed of. With her friend, Meryl would enter every store that sold wedding dress, on each street of her town and would leave the store disheartened. She wasn't able to find anything that was within her budget. She walked down the street and reached home, buried her head in her arms.

The big day was just a week ahead and Meryl was scared. She had fancied the gorgeous dresses her cousins and friends wore. She sat on the chair and turned on the computer and started browsing the Internet and finally stumbled upon CocoMelody . She rubbed her eyes and ensured she wasn't day dreaming in anyway. Her smiled widened as she could browse through the Beach Wedding dresses and the Destination Wedding dresses. She was so happy that everything was within her budget and tears ran down her cheeks out of happiness. She wore the best dress she always dreamed of for the Beach Wedding the couple planned.

This is my favorite pick. Isn't it a lovely dress?

CocoMelody is running a sale campaign so hurry up and grab your favorite dress. The sale has $20 off on purchase of $200, $40 off on purchase of $300 and $60 off on purchase of $400 worth dresses. The more you spend, the more you save, too.

Visit CocoMelody to find your subtle dress.
A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon Project Gutenberg and found a list of books penned by Rabindranath Tagore. The e-books were lying unnoticed until I stored them on my android tablet and begun reading.

Mashi and Other Stories is a collection of short stories in an elegant style that describes the lives of people, rich and poor, young and old, and how an incident becomes a turning point, which leaves behind a huge impact and scar.

The most interesting fact about Tagore's writing is that, every story has an ending which leads to two contradictory conclusions. What you infer is left is assumed to be true. This makes me adore the his works and I completed the book at a single go.

Skeptical, I am if I have interpreted the endings correctly, for each story is thought provoking.

Title : A Newlywed's Adventures in Married Land
Author : Shweta Ganesh Kumar
Publisher : Indireads
Pages : 133

Mythili, is attending her sister's wedding and she is reminded her life was before she wedded, three years ago. A young energetic journalist, marries the love of her life, leaving behind her family and well paying job and lands miles apart, as a dependent, in Philippines. Her husband introduces her to a gang of Indian families residing over years and regularly socialize during the weekends, attend parties. She quickly learns she does not fit in the gang who gossip and have no aim left in life apart from starting family within an year of marriage.

Mythili gives her best to adopt to her new lifestyle, setting up her home though invariably broods to her husband reminding him, that she left everything behind for him; the most important being her crime reporter job which kept her occupied day and night. And she failed to find a job in that country.

The story dwells about the life of an Indian woman who leaves her family, friends and a job to start the second innings of her life with whom she would live the rest of her life. The author highlights the phase of adaption one undergoes while out of the comfort zone and the toughest part being called "dependent" and susceptible to boredom.

The author introduces you to set of vocabulary throughout the book and has maintained the flow of the story. Each story has a quote from the famous, Alice in Wonderland, in comparison to Mythili's present situation and feels the same as Alice does. How does Mythili overcome this or does she return to India, read the book and conclude.

The Body Shop launched the Fuji Green Tea collection this August in India, comprising of Cologne, body butter, body scrub, body lotion, soap and sorbet. As the theme suggests, the products are made  of Green Tea leaves from Fuji in Japan.

The pricing of range of products.
I couldn't stop from buying Body Butter and Body Scrub which will be reviewed in future posts.

What's your Fuji Green Tea haul?
The September Envy Box arrived as a vibrant Silver box, with neat packaging. I was delighted to see the two full size products.

David Off Cool Water Shower Gel 75 ml- Full size product

Za Foamy Cleanser - sample product

Catrice Lipstick - Full size product - 320 Kiss Kiss Hibiscus.

Vana Green Tea Shampoo 40 ml.

I have not tried any of the products but love the color of the Catrice lipstick.
Oriflame Whitening Foundation 25 ml comes in a white colored tube and claims to provide SPF 15 sun protection.

Cost: Rs 549

Shelf life: 3 years

The tube is handy and the small quantity foundation is sufficient to make the skin fairer. The foundation is non greasy, very light and stays longer when used with the face powder.

I have been using this for more than two months and highly recommend for oily skin.

Overall verdict: 4/5
Kannada play directed by Venkatesh Murthy.

The play kicks off with the story tellers who discuss amongst themselves what should they narrate which makes the audience head bow down with shame. Each of the four decide what story and finally agree to narrate the story of Ramayana.

The storyteller narrate why Lakshmana cut Ravana's sister, Surpanakha's nose and how she instigates Ravana to abduct Sita. The ten headed Ravana becomes aggressive to an extent that he abducts Rama's wife Sita. Sita is kidnapped by Ravana, suffers separation from her dear husband, an exile in exile.

A war between the good and the bad begins and Ravana's death marks Rama's victory but Sita undergoes **Agni Pariksha though Ravana never touched her.

**Agni Pariksha - sacrifice in the fire. A ritual followed during old days to test the person truthfulness.

The story takes a twist when Sita's childhood friend Parvati praises Ravana before her. Who is Parvati and why does she appear after ages? Watch this beautiful enacted play.

Choosing the right ingredient

A few years ago, I stayed away from my family in another country and this was the first time I was away from them. Having been a laadli beti, my mother never allowed me to do the household chores nor I had to worry about the cooking.

When I travelled overseas, I had taken with me the required utensils like pressure cooker, rice cooker, frying pan and other rasam, sambhar powder and chutney pudi. If I had to cook something, I would utilize the calling card which allowed me to talk as long as an hour and I would note down what vegetables, masala and kind of dal to prepare the food. My parents found it very funny when I would ask how that particular dal or leaf looked like. Is it a small dal or big dal, yellow or brown dal. What does leaf look like, when the integredients should be stirred. Should any water to be added or not? They would patiently answer all my questions.

I found cooking very interesting and expetimented whatever I could starting from lemon rice, believe me its the easiest to prepare with just Tadka, sprinkle lemon and mix rice and there you go. With the love for food, I learnt the South Indian, North Indian and Italian pasta and few other recipes. I was very happy that not only I learned what to add and how much quantity to prepare.

Back home, there are hectic times and lazy days where you get sick of eating the food you prepare or while you're home alone and no one to accompany you, you end up sleeping hungry or eating bread and jam.

While in a gang, going to restaurant and waiting for a table is again killer. You order a starter and main course and by the time, it arrives in front of you, the hunger dies.

When guests pop in during lunch without an invite, you are stuck as to what to cook last minute and can't even let them go. Once added more salt in a hurry and the guest couldn't eat the food at all.

TinyOwl is a fastest food ordering service in major cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gurgoan and Pune, where you could order food from your Android or Apple device sitting at home. TinyOwl app provides a friendly user interface for browsing the recipe and restaurants, along with the chef details. I have installed the app on both android and apple devices and the navigation works fine. While you place an order, you can see the estimated delivery. And can search based on your current location.

If your lazy to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner or arranging a house party, or when guests pop in with a surprise. Just order the food on TinyOwl and enjoy your food for the day without worry.
I received my August Envy box last week and here is what I received. The last time I ordered the Envy box was in 2013 and this is the second one and I am delighted to own it. Let me show what I received in the season of festivals.

The maroon box with the beautiful prints representing the richness of India in this festive season. I loved the box and am gonna preserve it to store my makeup.

When I opened the box I found India, My love in French "India Mon Amour" along with the subscription details and description of each product. All products are Ayurvedic for this subscription which marks Indian Independence celebration as well.

The box contains 4 products, a body mist, a Kohl, an itthar and facial mask.

Suganda - Neem Green Tea Mask. 60 grams Rs 900.
This Mask is best suited for those with the acne prone skin and wouldn't be of use to me. I would give it to my friend who requires this for her acne prone skin.

Natural Masque and Mixtures Body mist with Iced Pomegrate and Kerala Lime. 50ml. Cost not mentioned on the bottle.
The body mist has a mild fragrance and prefect for office wear. It fits well in my purse. I liked the cute bottle which I can reuse with other mists and perfumes.

Soultree Ayurvedic Kajal. 3 gms Rs 350.
The herbal blue colored kajal comes in a neat packing but I wasn't too happy with the colored kajal as I prefer black over other colors. This one too smudges easily unlike other herbal kajals like Shahnaz Hussain, Lotus and Biotique. I would've preferred an eye liner gel based or an eye pencil over this.

Hedonista Oudh Frozen Itar. 20 gms Rs 1,045.
For the first time, I have received an Itar in a beauty box. I have used several body mists, perfumes and deodorants, but never an Itar, and that too a frozen Itar! Hedonista's Itar has a lovely rose fragrance. All these years, I have smelled strong Itar at shops which caused me headache. I am gonna use this one but awaiting for an occasion to apply.

I am happy with the products except the Kajal and would subscribe for the next issue.
