Every child is fascinated to watch the cartoons and why not they bring so much creativity in them. Especially when you listen to the animals converse with each other, share happiness and sadness, emotions unlike, we, human beings. Amidst all the animals in the forest, so called Jungle, the word also adopted by English dictionary, there is a brave boy who has been brought by the animals and firmly believes they are his parents. After watching the Jungle Book, when I would go out for walks or see other animals on the street, I would think, why these animals aren't talking like us, just like the ones with Mowgli. Mowgli must be a special boy that the converse with him alone and we are just ordinary that they talk to each other in coded language and share secrets to themselves.

The bonding shown between the naughty boy, Mowgli and his relationship the animals is tremendous. Bhalu, the bear, was another character which I admired due to its honesty. Sher Khan, the tiger would always challenge the young boy but also teach him the survival methods. The older, the wiser you're to advise the young. I always loved and even love the title song "Jungle jungle paTa Chala hain, chadi pehenke phool khila hain.." As a child, I had the same addiction to Jungle Book, the way the kids these days are crazy to watch Chota Bheem! My Sunday mornings were spent right in front of the TV without even brushing the teeth and my mother would always scold. Even during the clash tests and exams, Jungle Book were a part of study time and I would obviously receive extra scoldings, "Are they going to ask what you watched on TV yesterday? Better focus and study." But watching Mowgli's adventures with his so called loyal wooden weapon, "Boomerang", that would return to him, no matter how far he was, was always astonishing. I would also wonder how Mowgli survived the varying climatic conditions of the forest without any clothes.

Best thing I loved was the boomerang and my father would say that the boomerangs were available only in Australia and it is Australia's souvenir. Fortunately, Australia is the first foreign land I stepped and always reminds of Mowgli's Boomerang. Every time I noticed a boomerang, the song would play on my mind, "jungle jungle pata chala hain.."

We are, often, impressed taken away by the beautiful things and those which look attractive. First impression is the best impression, is the most widely accepted statement. Though this statement holds good, we tend to ignore other important qualities, that a person posses. We are always judged on how we present ourselves, how well we talk, the best "brand" clothes we wear, the jewelry, hair groomed, the footwear and of course the perfect figure which most models maintain starving on health food. Its the physical beauty which most crave for even when it comes to decision making while choosing the soulmate, where one truly ignores to see the soulmate's quality. What one observes is the physical appearance which diminishes as we age. A better body shape, a pretty face and of course fine clothes and hair do, leave fine imprints during the first meet. Most people advise, the first meeting and the couple of meetings followed are judged upon how well you carry off yourself, how well you talk and "impress". Most of us worry, what to wear best on first date especially when it turns out to be arranged marriage.

If you are too modern, wear fitting jeans and T-shirt, then the girl does not fit into the family and might not do any household at all. "Din bhar bahar ghoomege aur kaam kaaj kuch na karegi". "She wouldn't even looks after her kids in future and would leave them at day care."

In addition, you you have short or colored hair, and spend time on make up and cosmetics, then, mind you, you are too stylish and spend hours grooming in front of the mirror, a beauty with no brains.

If you have piercing or a tattoo, then you are a total gone case, totally unacceptable material to the society which we live.

If you are traditional, wear a bindi, salwar kameez, a dozen bangle, braid your hair, then you are a typical homely girl, fit to stay at home and prefer to look after home. You are a naive, seedhi-saadhi ladki.

When someone mentions, that they are modern or looking for modern girl, I indulge in a deep thought, if they refer to the looks or refer to the modern thinking. However, most of them refer to the former. Most of us are scrutinized based on looks than the education, job, good qualities, hobbies or achievements. Sometimes, I end up with blunt questions which annoys others, "I see you have mentioned you are looking modern girl, what does the word 'modern' mean exactly to you?"

..and you obviously know what the usual answer is.

"Oh, according to you, if girl is posh, wears good clothes and presents well, she is considered to be modern and respectable and not based on other qualities?"

People would never grow up and remain in 18th century thought process and would never be modern thinkers.

a. 69% of men agree that their judgement of women is based on their looks.

b. 64% of women agree that the judgments passed on them have affected their ability to reach their true potential.

c. 70%of women agree that majority of judgments on women are from family members or friends rather than strangers.

d. 72% of women agree that working women face more judgments on their looks or their clothes than housewives.

I am hopeful this situation changes but in a long run. It would takes decades or even centuries to change the mindset of people that has been uprooted since time immemorial.
