Happy Ugadi(New Year) to one and all. Today, we are stepping into another year-Sarvadhaari. We Kannadigas prepare bevu-bella(bevu=margo, bella=jaggery) mixed together. Bevu-bella has a great significance-that life is full of ups and downs. One will should face both happiness and sorrows with courage.

According to the Hindus(and the Chinese), it is believed to be auspicious for those who complete 60 years of age since 60 years form a life cycle in the lunar calender.
